How I have slept, recently:
- Fitfully, as I listened to my father snoring and felt pinned by a comforter that was too heavy.
- Drunkenly, sharing a bed with Lisa. We were still in our party clothes, and I listened to her breathing when I couldn’t sleep. An orange cat snuggled in between us, and then slept stretched out on its back, little feline legs sticking out, like a person.
- Naked and with someone else, under a sheet in the early morning hours. The windows were open and I could hear the busses, cars, and street cleaners driving by. Kids in the park across the street were yelling and everything felt familiar and easy.
On one hand maybe I should keep these things to myself, but on the other hand, "I am bored when I lie or hide the truth of my life from another person, who, presumably, means no harm" (David Berman).
On the third hand, I'm emo?
