i wish i knew german so i could get to the root of things more efficiently. i'm guessing this is part of your love for it, no?
literally it's obligation to commitment. the dread part is more understood, i guess.
these are the reasons i love german: the word for nipple is Brustwarze, which literally means breast wart. and the word for quotation marks is Gänsefüßchen, which literally means tiny goose feet. you didn't know they could be cute, did you? also, Vergangenheitsbewältigung is a noun that involves dealing with your past. that's so much cooler than any english word.
